Shah Rukh Khan’s manager refutes allegations regarding complaints about the renovation of Mannat
Mumbai’s renowned sea-facing bungalow, Mannat, which serves as the residence of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, has come under scrutiny this week following a complaint lodged by activist Santosh Daundkar regarding alleged unauthorized construction. In response, a collaborative team from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the forest department conducted a visit to the property to assess any potential violations. As reported by the Times of India, officials were observed at Mannat, which includes a heritage structure known as Villa Vienna, alongside a modern multi-storey annexe that is currently undergoing renovations. During this period, Shah Rukh and his family have temporarily relocated to a luxurious four-floor apartment at Puja Casa in Pali Hill, Bandra, which is owned by film producer Vashu Bhagnani. During the inspection, Shah Rukh Khan’s staff welcomed the team and assured them that all necessary permits and documentation for the ongoing renovations would be provided in due time. The actor’s long-time manager, Pooja Dadlani, refuted any claims of misconduct, stating, “There are no complaints. All work is proceeding in accordance with guidelines,” as she informed TOI. A representative from the forest department mentioned to the publication that the inspection was conducted following the receipt of a complaint.
The grievance lodged by Daundkar gained significance after assertions made by former IPS officer YP Singh. Singh contended that the annexe of Mannat was built in 2005 in violation of the Urban Land Ceiling Act. He asserted that 12 small apartments were originally sanctioned for the site but were subsequently merged into a single opulent dwelling for Shah Rukh and his spouse, interior designer Gauri Khan. Singh charged municipal officials with collusion and called for the reinstatement of the original layout to adhere to housing regulations.
