IndiGo Employee Files Complaint Over Caste-Based Abuse by Superiors
An employee of IndiGo Airlines has filed a criminal complaint, claiming that his senior officials have discriminated against him and verbally abused him on the basis of his caste. The complaint was officially transferred to the DLF-1 police station in Gurgaon after being initially filed as a Zero FIR in Karnataka on May 21.
According to the complainant, the comments made were intentional and attempted to humiliate him and undermine his dignity because of his caste identity. The FIR further claims that IndiGo has a history of discriminatory treatment and targeted harassment. The CEO and Ethics Committee of IndiGo had first been consulted on the issue, but unfortunately, nothing was done to rectify the unfairness. The case was filed through a lawyer after the given seven days to apologize, which they failed to do. The accusations have been denied by the airline. “IndiGo does have a courteous workplace and keeps up with a zero-tolerance policy towards any kind of harassment, or discrimination. When contacted, Indigo denied the allegations, and upholded its principles of justice, and responsibility.
Inspector Rajesh Kumar, the house officer for DLF-1 Station, stated that the investigation is ongoing and that normal statement recording will be completed.
