Majuli In Assam Exports Red Rice Internationally For The First Time
Majuli in Assam, entered the global market on Friday by exporting 267 metric tons of red rice, locally known as bao dhan, to Dubai and Russia—its first foreign shipment of the traditional staple. Majuli MLA Bhuban Gam conducted the ceremonial flag-off in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Ratul Chandra Pathak, SSP Bibekananda Das, and agricultural department officials. IVC Agrovet Pvt Ltd is facilitating the export process.
Speaking at the ceremony, MLA Bhuban Gam stated that the project is a significant step toward promoting Assam’s traditional organic products abroad and helping the welfare of local farmers.
Deputy Commissioner Pathak stated that the shipment demonstrates Majuli’s strength in sustainable agriculture, pointing out that local farmers have practiced organic farming for centuries.
