Tripura Indigenous group plans to hold rally in Agartala on August 23

The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), which is a coalition partner in the BJP-led state government, intends to organize a rally in Agartala on August 23 to advocate for the establishment of a separate Tipraland state. The party plans to present a formal demand draft to the Governor of Tripura, reiterating its request for statehood.

IPFT General Secretary Swapan Debbarma also addressed conversations with the Election Commission of India regarding the Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls, highlighting the importance of including every legitimate Indian citizen and performing verification by generation. The party’s choice to conduct the rally is made independently of its partnership with the BJP.
