Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Peddi Trailer Unveils an Intense, Multi-Sport Rural Drama

The highly anticipated trailer for the rural sports drama Peddi, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, was officially launched at a grand event in Mumbai following two years of production. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and set against the rustic backdrop of Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, the film showcases Ram Charan as a multi-talented “crossover athlete” who dominates three distinct sports: cricket, traditional wrestling (kushti), and sprinting. Touted as a deity on the playground by his local community, the titular character faces a steep, emotional uphill battle to achieve his athletic dreams while navigating deep-rooted social inequality, class divides, and political power struggles.

Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyendu, the film boasts a rare Telugu cinema soundtrack composed by AR Rahman and is presented by Sukumar Writings and Mythri Movie Makers. The over three-minute-long trailer heavily spotlights Ram Charan’s impressive physical transformation alongside Janhvi Kapoor’s outspoken, rebellious character, Achiyyamma. Despite enduring multiple production delays and a minor eye injury sustained by Ram Charan during the final leg of shooting, the team officially locked a multi-lingual theatrical release date for June 4, 2026, aiming to deliver a larger-than-life commercial entertainer with a grounded emotional core.
