National-Level Athletics for the First Time at Sarihahatoli Sports Complex

At the invitation of the Athletics Federation of India, and under the supervision of the Assam Athletics Association and the initiative of the Nalbari Sports Association, the India Athletics Series-7 Competition will be organized at the Sarihahatoli Sports Complex in Nalbari from June 6th. Senior (Men-Women) and Junior (Under-20) boys and girls will participate in this event.
The competitions for the Under-20 boys and girls will include the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m races. Competitions will also be held for Men’s and Women’s Javelin Throw, Long Jump, and High Jump. Nipon Das, the Joint Secretary of the Assam Athletics Association and Athletics Coach, informed that more than 400 athletes from various states are expected to participate in the competition.
Track Marking Responsibility Given to Olympian Aleksandrs Biziks Already, Aleksandrs Biziks—an Estonian who participated in the Pole Vault event at the Atlanta and Barcelona Olympics—has arrived and set up camp in Nalbari to oversee the track marking work at the Sarihahatoli Stadium. He shared that he has been working in lane marking and surveying for the last 30 years.
To conduct the games smoothly, a powerful management committee has been formed, with Nalbari Sports Association President and Nalbari constituency MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah elected as the President, and General Secretary Bubul Talukdar as the Secretary. Additionally, Abhijit Kalita and Parthapratim Lahkar have been appointed as Joint Secretaries, Jayanta Dutta as Joint Secretary, and Nurul Amin as Treasurer.
Organizing Efforts and Local Enthusiasm For the management of this competition, 12 officials from different states along with 70 officials from Assam have already been assigned duties. Alongside them, 30 volunteers will be deployed. Local sports enthusiasts in Nalbari are highly ecstatic upon learning that a national-level athletics competition is being held at the Sarihahatoli Sports Complex for the first time.
Yesterday afternoon, several dignitaries visited the Sarihahatoli Sports Complex to assess the situation for the upcoming tournament. Among those present were Bibekananda Das, Senior Superintendent of Police, Nalbari District ,Nipon Das, Competition Observer and Athletics Coach ,Satyabrata Gogoi, Chief Executive Officer, Assam Athletics Association, Bubul Talukdar, General Secretary, Nalbari Sports Association ,Parthapratim Lahkar, Assistant Secretary, Batool Goswami, Football Secretary, Jayanta Dutta, Basketball Secretary, Aman Barman, Table Tennis Secretary, Satyen Sarma, Hemanta Barman, Sukumar Sarma, and Diganta Mitra, Sports Organizers, Gokul Mohanta, Cultural Activist.
