Gemini for Home Expands to More Devices and Languages in Major Smart Home Update
Google is significantly broadening the reach of its AI-driven smart home ecosystem with a major expansion of “Gemini for Home.” Originally limited to a select group of users and regions, the AI assistant is now rolling out to a much wider array of Google Home-compatible devices, including older Nest speakers and displays. This update transitions the platform from a basic voice command system to a more conversational and context-aware interface, allowing users to control their environments using natural, complex language rather than rigid, pre-set phrases.
A key highlight of this expansion is the introduction of multi-language support, enabling Gemini to interact fluently in several new languages beyond English. This move is designed to cater to global households where multiple languages are spoken, allowing the AI to understand and respond to diverse linguistic nuances seamlessly. Additionally, the update enhances the “Home Insights” feature, which uses Gemini’s reasoning capabilities to analyze home activity—such as identifying why a security camera was triggered or suggesting energy-saving routines—and provides users with detailed, easy-to-understand summaries of their home’s status.
