Imphal-Silchar Road Hit By Landslide, 80+ Vehicles Stuck

Road connectivity between Silchar (Assam) and Imphal (Manipur) via Jiribam district headquarters was affected on Wednesday morning due to major landslides, as reported by the officials. As a consequence, vehicular traffic was hampered, leaving around 80 cars, tankers, and others heading towards Imphal from Silchar stuck in Nungkao village. Landslides have damaged approximately 80-meter-long highways in two different locations.

ABCI and NIDCL, two construction and repair businesses, have begun land and debris clearing operations immediately, mobilizing efforts to handle the problem by sending three excavators to remove the piling mountainous soils. Officials estimated that clearing the debris would take around five hours to restore road connectivity between the two states.
