Reliance & Meta Enter Into India-Focused AI Joint Venture

At Reliance Industries’ Annual General Meeting, Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced a new AI-focused joint venture with Meta, involving an initial investment of ₹855 crore, with Reliance holding 70% and Meta 30%. Ambani emphasized that this India-centric partnership aims to merge open-source AI capabilities with Reliance’s industry expertise across sectors like energy, retail, telecom, media, and manufacturing. The goal is to create sovereign, enterprise-ready AI solutions tailored for India.

Responding to the announcement, Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting Meta’s mission to provide personal superintelligence to everyone. He noted the potential of AI to empower individuals, boosting creativity, productivity, and innovation. Zuckerberg shared that with Reliance’s extensive reach, Meta’s open-source AI models, including Llama, can be delivered to Indian businesses nationwide. He believes this venture marks a crucial step toward widespread AI access, empowering entrepreneurs, creators, and companies. Zuckerberg sees this joint effort as the beginning of a future where AI and superintelligence become universally accessible tools for success and growth.
