Exclusivity Restored Mahindra Offers Full Buyback for Original Batman Edition Owners
In an unprecedented move for the Indian automotive industry, Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a full buyback option for the first 999 owners of the BE.6 Batman Edition. This decision follows a significant social media backlash from “founding owners” who felt the exclusivity of their limited-edition EV was diluted when Mahindra unexpectedly released a second batch of 999 units earlier this month. The original batch, launched in August 2025, had sold out in just 135 seconds based on the promise of a strictly limited run. To address these concerns, Mahindra is offering a 30-day window, starting March 18, 2026, for original buyers to return their vehicles to dealerships for a full repurchase.
The BE.6 Batman Edition, based on the top-spec 79 kWh “Pack Three” variant, is a high-performance electric SUV developed in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. It features a striking Satin Black exterior, “Dark Knight” themed decals, 20-inch alloy wheels with gold-painted calipers, and a luxury all-black cabin with Alchemy Gold accents and “Bat” emblem embossing. While the second batch sold out in a record seven minutes despite a ₹70,000 price hike (taking the ex-showroom price to ₹28.49 lakh), the buyback initiative serves as a strategic effort by Mahindra to maintain the trust of its early EV adopters and preserve the “limited” prestige of its most exclusive electric offering.
