BCCI Races to Fill Pace Bowling Gap: 3 Coaches to Be Appointed at Bengaluru Center

There is currently a clear shortage of skilled pace bowlers in Indian cricket. There is no alternative to a bowler like Jasprit Bumrah. However, due to excessive workload, even a bowler like Bumrah has sometimes lost his rhythm. If backup pace bowlers are not found soon, the Indian team will face trouble in the coming days. To overcome this situation, the Board has taken up a special initiative.
The Board will soon appoint three bowling coaches at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. The Board has made this decision keeping in mind the consistency of the Indian team’s pace attack and injury-related issues. Even though talented pace bowlers like Umran Malik, Mayank Yadav, and T. Natarajan have emerged in recent times, the careers of all three are currently plagued by injuries. Their return to the team after becoming fully fit remains shrouded in deep uncertainty.
Ever since Troy Cooley’s departure last year, there has been no permanent pace bowling coach at the Board’s Center of Excellence. Along with filling Troy Cooley’s vacant position, two others will be appointed so that the three can handle responsibilities ranging from the junior to the senior levels. Lakshmipathy Balaji, Dhiraj Singh, P. Krishnakumar, Vinay Kumar, and Tinu Yohannan are in the race for these three positions.
On the other hand, amidst the steps taken to scout young talent, veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s brilliant performance in the ongoing IPL has surprised everyone. Many former stars have advised including the star player in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 series. Another pace bowler who has come into the spotlight is Prince Yadav. The Board will start a camp after appointing the three coaches right after the conclusion of the IPL.
