Yash Dayal Breaks Silence on IPL 2026 Absence, Contradicts RCB’s ‘Personal Reasons’ Claim

Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal has publicly opened up about his complete absence from the ongoing IPL 2026 season, directly refuting the official narrative put forward by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) management. Before the tournament commenced, RCB’s Director of Cricket Mo Bobat had informed the media that Dayal would miss the campaign due to a “personal situation,” while emphasizing that the franchise remained highly supportive of the bowler and kept him under contract. However, speaking on the Talk with Manvendra podcast, the 28-year-old fast bowler clarified that staying away from the field was not a voluntary choice.Dayal, who played a pivotal role in RCB’s maiden IPL title victory in 2025, revealed that the decision to bench him was entirely corporate and driven by squad authorities rather than his own personal request. Acknowledging that watching his teammates perform on television has been emotionally challenging, Dayal noted that he does not know the exact reasons behind management’s stance but takes solace in the fact that RCB chose to retain him without seeking a mid-season replacement.

Despite the public contradiction, the bowler asserted that communication channels remain clear and active, confirming regular check-ins with RCB’s director, head coach Andy Flower, and batting coach Dinesh Karthik. While the franchise initially labeled the situation as private, Dayal’s season-long absence comes against the backdrop of serious off-field legal issues. The pacer is currently facing heavy judicial scrutiny involving multiple criminal allegations, including a sexual exploitation case filed in Ghaziabad and a separate complaint registered under the POCSO Act in Jaipur, where a special court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in late 2025. As RCB continues its high-stakes IPL 2026 playoff charge against the Gujarat Titans, Dayal remains under contract but entirely distant from the squad’s active bio-bubble.
