Guwahati Metropolitan Chess Championship

The Guwahati Metropolitan Chess Championship 2026 (Under-9 years) commenced today at the Guwahati Chess Academy, located on Radha Govinda Baruah Road, Guwahati.
At the end of the third round in the Under-9 boys’ category:
Top seed Mitrav Baruah, Second seed Beyan Nabish, Shrihan Kumar Hore, Riddhiman Bhuyan, Gaurav Sharma Each collected 3 points to jointly secure the top position.
In their respective matches Mitrav defeated Ayansh Das. Beyan defeated Aaddhik Thakuria . Gaurav Sharma defeated Jishan Kashyap Borah. Shrihan Hore defeated Aaddhik Banik. Riddhiman Bhuyan defeated Baibhav Gurung.
In the Under-9 girls’ category, Aaddhika Giri scored 3 points at the end of three rounds to solely capture the top spot. On the other hand, Shanvi Kashyap and Dhabhi Patgiri earned 2.5 points each to jointly hold the second position. Aaddhika secured her sole lead by defeating Naira Jain, while the match between Shanvi and Dhabhi ended in a draw.
A total of 61 players from various parts of Guwahati are participating in this tournament. The competition was officially inaugurated by Mukuta Deka, President of the All Assam Chess Association.
