14 Illegal Immigrants Arrested At Assam Border, Says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Even as the state struggles with the devastation caused by floods, attempts at illegal infiltration across the international border continue. In this situation, Assam Police have managed to detain 14 suspected infiltrators who entered Assam after crossing the border. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared this information on Friday.

The Chief Minister said that even though attempts at infiltration into Assam are ongoing, the police are foiling such attempts every day and taking action.

“Every day, infiltrators are trying to fulfill their malicious intentions in Assam. But we are foiling every such attempt and taking action. Assam Police have detained 14 such infiltrators and appropriate action has been taken against them. Assam will always remain vigilant,” the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

However, the Chief Minister did not disclose any details about the identity of those detained, the location of the operation, or the action taken against them.

It may be mentioned that the Assam Government has been carrying out continuous drives against illegal infiltration and suspected foreign nationals. According to information shared by the government in the Assembly recently, nearly 2,100 illegal foreigners have been deported, repatriated, or pushed back across the border from the state in the last ten years.

According to the government, 2,023 of those deported were citizens of Bangladesh.
