Apple Poised to Raise iPhone 17 Series Prices in India Starting August, Leaks Suggest

Apple could soon increase retail prices across its flagship iPhone 17 lineup in India beginning early August, according to details shared by industry sources. Reports indicate that Apple has alerted authorized retail partners, including iPlanet dealers, about an upcoming price adjustment that could push the base 256GB iPhone 17 from its launch price of ₹82,900 to ₹94,990—a sharp ₹12,000 jump. While specific revised figures for the premium iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have not yet surfaced, similar price hikes are expected to apply across the entire lineup.

The potential price revision comes amid a broader pattern of hardware cost adjustments driven by global supply chain pressures. Apple previously increased prices across its Mac, iPad, and smart home portfolios in India, citing sharp cost increases for DRAM and NAND flash memory fueled by surging demand from artificial intelligence infrastructure. Foreign exchange fluctuations, including a weakening rupee against the US dollar, have added further pressure on import margins. Similar price adjustments were recently implemented in international markets like Japan, where iPhone prices rose by up to 11 percent.

Retailers across India are currently reporting inventory shortages for iPhone 17 units as buyers attempt to purchase devices ahead of the anticipated price increase. Fresh stock is expected to arrive at dealership channels by early August to coincide with the updated pricing schedule. Although Apple has not publicly confirmed the price adjustments, industry analysts suggest the move aligns with macroeconomic pressures facing consumer electronics manufacturers worldwide. Prospective buyers are advised to monitor official announcements as channel inventories refresh in the coming weeks.
