Apple’s Anticipated iPhone 18 Pro Tipped to Feature Powerhouse 2nm Chip, Massive Battery Boost, and Sleek Dark Cherry Hue
An influx of supply chain leaks ahead of Apple’s traditional September keynote has revealed significant hardware overhauls for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The most monumental upgrade centers on the new A20 Pro processor, which is slated to be manufactured using TSMC’s trailblazing 2-nanometer process. This shift to a smaller manufacturing node drastically packs more transistors onto the silicon, ensuring a massive leap in processing speeds and local efficiency to easily handle heavy on-device generative artificial intelligence tasks under the Apple Intelligence umbrella. However, this state-of-the-art silicon transition will reportedly increase component production costs by nearly 50 percent, a factor that industry analysts predict will trigger a retail price hike for consumers.
To complement the raw performance gains of the 2nm chipset, Apple is also aggressively addressing device longevity by fitting the iPhone 18 Pro lineup with much larger batteries. Early schematics suggest the high-end Pro Max could house a capacity exceeding 5,500mAh, making it the most substantial battery ever engineered into an iPhone. Accommodating this enhanced cell, alongside a heavily upgraded internal vapor chamber cooling system and a new variable-aperture camera module, will likely make the overall chassis marginally thicker and heavier than its predecessor. Visually, the standard titanium aesthetic will get a fresh aesthetic twist, as leaked dummy units show a new premium, muted “Dark Cherry” signature finish with deep purple undertones, which is set to replace existing colorways and anchor the upcoming flagship generation.
