Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota on Saturday reviewed the preparedness for the NEET-UG 2026 Re-Examination, scheduled on June 21, 2026, in accordance with the guidelines of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The re-examination will be conducted across 88 examination centres in 17 examination districts, covering over 43,000 candidates across Assam.
“Detailed instructions were issued to ensure a secure, transparent and student-friendly examination environment without any logistical or administrative difficulties,” the chief secretary said after chairing a comprehensive video conference with all district commissioners and senior superintendents of police, jointly with the Assam DGP.
Reviewing the district-wise preparedness, Kota directed the DCs and SSPs to personally oversee all arrangements.
“The readiness of examination centre readiness, security deployment, CCTV and biometric verification systems, power backup arrangements, transportation support for candidates and measures for effective inter-agency coordination were discussed during the meeting,” the chief secretary said.
He further directed strict enforcement of the dual-layer frisking protocol and secure handling and transportation of confidential examination materials.
“Special emphasis was laid on candidate welfare, including availability of drinking water, adequate seating arrangements, functional fans, clean washrooms, shaded waiting areas and other essential amenities at examination centres,” Kota said.
He further instructed all concerned officers to remain fully vigilant and responsive to ensure smooth and secure conduct of the examination across Assam.
