Lakhimpur’s Innings Triumph Headlines Inter-District Cricket; Silchar Draw But Claim Lead
The two-day match between Silchar and Bongaigaon in the Nuruddin Ahmed Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament ended in a draw due to rain. However, based on first-innings lead, Silchar secured three points while Bongaigaon earned one point.
In reply to Bongaigaon’s first innings total of 147, Silchar scored 216 in their first innings, aided by Shubham Mondal’s 69. Abhijeet Barman took four wickets. Bongaigaon’s second innings ended at 156. Rahul Singh captured five wickets. When the match ended, Silchar had reached 57 for the loss of three wickets in their second innings.
Meanwhile, in Barpeta, Lakhimpur defeated Goalpara by an innings and two runs. In response to Goalpara’s 100, Lakhimpur posted 213 in the first innings with the help of Hrishikesh Baruah’s 42. Trailing by 113, Goalpara were bowled out for 111 in their second innings, with Bishal Sharma’s 28, to concede an innings defeat.
