Lewandowski’s €20 Million Dilemma

The uncertainty surrounding Robert Lewandowski’s future at FC Barcelona continues to escalate, with the Polish superstar reportedly fielding a lucrative offer from MLS club Chicago Fire. The 37-year-old veteran is aware that president-elect Joan Laporta is keen to explore the possibility of extending his stay at the Catalan club, but any proposal from Barça would likely involve a significant salary cut and a more peripheral role.
Meanwhile, Chicago Fire is making a strong push to secure Lewandowski’s signature for next season, with a proposal that could reach €15 million gross per season, plus an additional €5 million in bonuses, totaling €20 million. This offer puts the MLS club in a commanding position, despite interest from AC Milan, Juventus, and Saudi Arabian clubs. Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, is currently in Barcelona, holding talks with Laporta, the player himself, and sporting director Deco, as well as Hansi Flick. The final decision on Lewandowski’s future will hinge on the German coach’s sporting assessment and the role he has planned for the veteran.
This season, Lewandowski has impressed with 18 goals and four assists from 42 games, despite competing with Ferran Torres for a starting spot.
