Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Launches 41 Meghalaya Battalion NCC, Pledges Support for Youth Development
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the newly relocated 41 Meghalaya Battalion NCC at Cherangre, Tura, emphasizing the NCC’s role in shaping youth into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The event featured cultural performances, cadet felicitations, and a tree-plantation ceremony. Sangma recalled his childhood aspirations to join the armed forces, inspired by the discipline and dedication of uniformed personnel. He stressed that investing in youth is crucial for development, saying, “The success of a government should be measured by how many lives are transformed.” The Chief Minister assured continued government support for NCC initiatives, calling it “an investment, not an expenditure.” The 41 Meghalaya Battalion NCC, upgraded from the 15 Assam Artillery Battery NCC, serves five Garo Hills districts.
