New Trouble for KKR Over Pathirana Injured Again After Bowling Just 8 Balls
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had purchased Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana for ₹18 crore. Due to an injury sustained during the last T20 World Cup, he was unable to play in this edition of the IPL right from the start. Although he joined the team midway through the tournament, he was not included in the playing XI. Yesterday, KKR stepped onto the field to play their twelfth match against Gujarat Titans. Pathirana was given an opportunity in place of Vaibhav Arora.
However, entering the field as an Impact Player, he felt an injury in his leg after bowling just 8 balls and consequently left the field. A few days ago, KKR assistant coach Shane Watson had disclosed that there were no longer any issues regarding Pathirana’s fitness. Having recovered from injury, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board had granted him permission to play in the IPL. But upon taking the field in his very first match, the player has been injured again. KKR is now in new trouble over Pathirana.
