‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’: Assam Rifles Hosts IDY 2026 Event in Aizawl with Mizoram Governor
Assam Rifles commemorated the 12th International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2026 at Zokhawsang, Aizawl, Mizoram. The event was organised in collaboration with the Directorate of AYUSH, Government of Mizoram, under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.
The programme was graced by General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retired), Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram, as the Chief Guest.
Miss Lalrinpuii, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of Mizoram was the Guest of Honour. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by more than 350 attendees, including civilians, NCC cadets, government officials and Assam Rifles personnel.
The arrival of the Hon’ble Governor was followed by the National Song. A welcome address was delivered by the Commandant, of Assam Rifles. Participants also joined the live telecast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address commemorating the International Day of Yoga 2026 and subsequently took part in the Common Yoga Protocol session conducted by the Crew of the National AYUSH Mission, Mizoram.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Governor highlighted the significance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and healthy ageing. He emphasised the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life to achieve holistic health, inner harmony and a balanced lifestyle.
Yoga sessions were also organised by Assam Rifles at Serchhip, Champhai and Lawngtlai districts in which more than 30 students, 40 civilians, 15 police personnel and 350 Assam Rifles personal took part.
More than 20 students, 20 civilians and 400 Assam Rifles personnels took part in the yoga sessions at Lunglei, Siaha, Parva and Zorinpui organised by Assam Rifles.
Qualified instructors conducted guided sessions on various asanas, pranayama and meditation techniques, emphasising yoga’s role in enhancing emotional resilience, holistic health and harmony between mind and body.
