Woman Dies After Alleged Assault by Son-in-Law in Guwahati

A shocking incident has been reported from Lower Mirzapur in Azara, Guwahati, where a woman allegedly died after being brutally assaulted by her son-in-law.

The deceased has been identified as Reena Begum. According to reports, on August 25, Reena had travelled from Satgaon to her married daughter’s residence in Lower Mirzapur to intervene in a dispute between her daughter and son-in-law, Faruk Ali.

However, what was intended to be an attempt at reconciliation allegedly turned violent inside the house. Faruk Ali, along with three other individuals, is accused of assaulting Reena Begum severely.

She reportedly sustained serious injuries, including fractures, during the alleged attack. Reena was immediately taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in critical condition for treatment.

Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries late Sunday night.

Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and launched an investigation. Further details, including the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and the identities and roles of the other accused, are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
