From New Delhi to Sipajhar: Asian Lawn Bowls Champion Welcomed with Traditional Dhol-Taba

In a time when the children of Assam are consistently achieving success on the world sports stage, a youth from Sipajhar has once again brought glory to the people of the state.
In the 17th Asian Lawn Bowls Championships held in New Delhi, the youth representing the Indian team won a gold medal. Immediately after achieving victory at the international level, the gold medalist returned to his village to a hero’s welcome.
Local residents welcomed the athlete with the sounds of Dhol-Taba (traditional drums). By representing the country and winning gold in the Asian Lawn Bowls event, as well as two gold medals in the World Champion of Champions event, the youth has been able to bring pride to the region. This success has brought joy not only to the athlete’s family but to the people of Darrang and the entire state of Assam.
It is noteworthy that many believe the sports sector of the state is reaching new heights due to the current government’s proactive efforts to provide modern facilities for athletes. The fact that rural athletes are now able to shine on the world stage is considered a significant development.
