Assam Assured of 2 Silvers at National Youth Boxing; Sandeep, Nikishita in Finals

Assam has confirmed two medals in the National Youth Boxing Championship. In the competition ongoing at the Sarusajai Sports Complex, two boxers from Assam have secured their places in the finals by winning their respective semi-final matches today, ensuring at least a silver medal for each.
Sandeep Basumatary and Nikishita Konwar are the two who successfully reached the finals to bring medals to Assam. It is noteworthy that while five boxers from the state reached the semi-finals, the campaign for three of them ended with defeats in the semi-final stage. Consequently, Assam had a mixed experience in the youth competition reaching the final rounds today.
Sandeep Basumatary Competing in the 80 kg category, he advanced to the final by defeating his opponent in the semi-finals.
Nikishita Konwar Competing in the 65 kg category, she won a hard-fought battle in the semi-finals, defeating a boxer from Manipur with a 3-2 scoreline to confirm her silver medal and a spot in the final.

While Sandeep and Nikishita moved forward, three other Assamese pugilists lost their bouts:
Punam Baruah (75 kg category)
Manika Das (48 kg category)
Shewali (48 kg category)
These three boxers faced defeats in their respective semi-final matches, bringing their journey in the tournament to an end. Despite these losses, the focus remains on the upcoming finals where Sandeep and Nikishita will fight for the gold.
