Nursing is a Sacred Act: International Nurses Day Celebrated at Sarathi Hospital

International Nurses Day was celebrated today at Nalbari’s leading healthcare facility, Sarathi Hospital, to commemorate the birthday of Florence Nightingale. A program was organized in the hospital’s auditorium for this occasion. Before the meeting commenced, lamps were lit in front of the portraits of Florence Nightingale, artist Zubeen Garg, and the late Karuna Deuri, the former principal of Sarathi Nursing Institute. At the start of the meeting, a wall magazine titled ‘Jiban Srota’ was inaugurated by Dr. Sushanta Kumar Kashyap, a professor at Borbhag College and an author. In his speech, Dr. Kashyap stated, “Nursing is a sacred act.” He extended his congratulations and best wishes to every healthcare worker engaged in this noble profession on International Nurses Day, calling for them to be honored from the bottom of one’s heart. He also discussed the life and ideals of Florence Nightingale, urging everyone to be inspired by her example.
Shashanka Sharma, a journalist and guest from Assam Valley Academy, Nalbari, remarked during his speech that a nurse acts as a bridge between the doctor and the patient. He emphasized that nursing is not just a profession but a great humanitarian service. The event was attended by teachers and students of the nursing school, as well as doctors, nurses, and staff of Sarathi Hospital.
